AB The analysis of the development of digital technologies in film focuses on the digitization of special effects and computer graphics, digital projection, digitization of sound, and the development of digital sound systems and media. It analyses the implications of the advent of digital technologies for the demise of, for example, 70 mm film as a projection format and gives specific examples of the use of digital technologies in films after 1990. The next section focuses on the changes in the film industry after digitisation, the threat of film piracy and the implications of digitisation for film preservation.
