The Eye of Horror

The motif of the eyes and the gaze in films, especially in the horror genre. The depiction of horror through the use of bulging eyes. The double gaze and the double portrayal of crime: the masculine - aggressive and the reactive feminine gaze of the victim. The relationship between the camera and the viewer. The text is a translation of an abridged version of a chapter from Men, Women, and Chain Saws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film.
