A brief introduction to the issue of film censorship since the beginning of the last century. The content of the documents forming the archival fund stored in the depository of the State Central Archive in Prague. Two specialised European projects dealing with the subject of film censorship. The article is an introduction to the following study by Thomas Ballhausen, Silenced Muses.
