Studie se zabývá fungováním vizuálních konvencí ve filmu, naznačuje, že pochopení umělecké konvence vyžaduje odhození některých principů strukturalistické a poststrukturalistické doktríny a poukazuje na význam pravidelně se opakujících mezikulturních jevů pro pochopení konvencí.
