"As Griffith Said, You Can't Stop Progress ... " Czech Projectionists Reflect on the Changes in Projection Technology
The aim of the text was to describe the transformation of projection technologies that has occurred in the Czech cinema sector in recent years with the advent of multiplexes, as perceived by users of projection devices and how it affects their working conditions. The authors attempted to apply qualitative sociological research methods in the analysis of autobiographical narratives of Prague projectionists in the era of multiplexes. The narrators' interpretive practices served as material for a more general analysis of the values associated with changing cinema technology and the retreat of the classical form of the cinematic experience.
