Some thoughts on the Buftea Film Studio

Dan Mircea Duta

The author details the history of the Romanian Buftea film studios, their technical equipment, production and importance for contemporary international cooperation, the fate and activities of the Buftea complex after 1998 and their present use. At the same time, he raises an ethical issue: to what extent does knowledge of the political background prevent us from giving value to films that were commissioned by the previous regime and are still popular and shown today.

Keywords: film production companies and studios, political systems and film, ideology and film
